Declaration of solidarity with the staff of Slovak Television and Radio

The members of the literary and artistic association Bázis express their solidarity with the employees of Slovak Television and Radio, who demonstrated dressed in black in defence of press freedom against the approval of the draft law on Slovak Television and Radio. The Bázis Association was founded to represent autonomous, independent and free literature, art and science, and its members are very aware of and understand the threat to Slovak public media. We are opposing the degradation of Slovak public media into a tool of anti-democratic propaganda and we support all initiatives that counter this. We consider it of the utmost importance that the Hungarian programmes of Slovak Television and Radio continue to be produced without political influence.
