"CZECHOSLOVAK SUITCASE
An exhibition by Rokko Juhász

"The work is not an object to be hung on a gallery wall, but the journey itself, leading to its own dissolution."

The six-year process-art project of internationally acclaimed performance artist Rokko Juhász, spanning five continents, reaches its destination at the Ernest Zmeták Art Gallery in Nové Zámky. CZECHOSLOVAK SUITCASE is the ontological journey of a family relic manufactured in 1922, connecting personal micro-history (the fate of a grandfather from Kamenín) with global geopolitical traumas.

The artist fulfilled the "unlived" travels of his grandfather through this object, touching upon tension points such as the Indo-Pakistani border and the island of Vanuatu in Oceania. Throughout the project, the suitcase functioned as an "analogue glitch," disrupting the machinery of modern bureaucracy, before reaching its final resolution at the Yasur volcano. Respecting the site's sanctity, Juhász "left the object to its fate" at the volcano's edge.

In the cellar gallery of Nové Zámky, visitors confront dematerialized memory: the physically absent suitcase returns to the gallery walls as a digital ghost, a holofan illusion.

"The exhibition's accompanying texts were created based on the prompts and editorial selection of Rokko Juhász and Anikó Mazán, with the collaboration of artificial intelligence.""
